Preparation for a new phase of life.

So this is it, my very first blog post.

As my wife and I start down the road to parenthood, with baby ‘M’ due on August 5th 2016, I wanted to build a platform where I/we could record notes on the process of upgrading our home and as a new platform for me to explore some more creative avenues.

To name just a few, here are some of my reasons to start a blog:

• To hopefully track my transition into fatherhood from the perspective of my home and the inevitable essential technological additions.
• To practice writing for a broader audience than I would usually write for in my daily job.
• To experiment with blogging tech and grow my practical understanding of SEO practices.
• To document some of our home improvement projects.

The Plan

My execution plan here is somewhat straightforward, although likely overly simplified:

1. Research blogging platforms
2. Setup a new domain and the hosting for it
3. Configure blogging platform
4. Write blog articles

This blog existing on a public domain shows that both step 1 and step 2 are finished, and step 3 is also complete to a functional state to let me put up a sparse blog. Obviously, Step 4 is going to be the hardest part.

To start, I plan on documenting the work to date in achieving step 1, 2, and 3. The goal of this is to leave myself a record of the completed tasks and hopefully help others who are traveling similar paths.

Once those basic posts have been completed I’ll be trying to regularly add new content as it comes to mind.
